About Illinois Compass 2g

Illinois Compass 2g is an enterprise learning management system powered by Blackboard's Learn platform.

It gives faculty, instructors, students, and others a collaborative online space with tools for

  • * Preparing, managing, and delivering course content in a variety of teaching styles

  • * Assessing students through multiple types of learning activities

  • * Tracking and publishing grades

  • * Keeping course material available to students outside the classroom walls.

This custom installation is hosted by CITES for use by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

System Announcements

  • System Maintenance Period - Every Wednesday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. (Tuesday, April 22, 2014)

    Please expect that Illinois Compass 2g may be unavailable from 5AM - 9AM on Wednesday mornings for routine maintenance and downtime.  Service status can be checked by visiting CITES Status Page.

  • SafeAssign Central Services Maintenance April 26, 9 am - 11 am (Tuesday, April 22, 2014)

    The SafeAssign central services will undergo maintenance that requires a service outage on Saturday, April 26, 2014 9am – 11pm.  For the first half hour, SafeAssign functionality will not be available and an error will be displayed to the user.  For the remainder of the maintenance window, papers will not be processed. Papers submitted during this maintenance window will be queued, and reports will be delayed until after the maintenance has completed. 

    Immediately after this deployment has completed, users will experience a new look and feel on their originality reports.  Please refer to the Release Notes for more detailed information about this deployment on April 26th, 2014.

  • The Blackboard Mobile Learn App is available as a free download for faculty, students and staff. (Saturday, March 15, 2014)
